Collection: Henri Rousseau

Henri Rousseau (1844–1910) was a French artist known for his naive, dreamlike landscapes and jungle motifs. Rousseau, often called “Le Douanier” (the customs officer), painted scenes filled with lush vegetation, exotic animals, and imaginative compositions that uniquely combine realism and fantasy.

His art is characterized by clean lines, vibrant colors, and an almost fairytale-like atmosphere, with detailed depictions of plants and animals that evoke a sense of mystery and adventure. Rousseau’s style was both simple and powerful, inspiring later modernist artists.
